Biography
Kayla Pope, MD, JD, MA, DFAACAP, FAPA is the Medical Director of Winnebago Mental Health Institute where she also serves as the site director for the 麻豆学生精品版, NEW Residency Program and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship. Dr Pope completed her law degree at American University, Washington College of Law, and practiced for several years with a focus on youth in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. She received a master’s in experimental neuropsychology from George Mason University and worked in several research labs at the National Institute of Mental Health. She attended medical school at George Washington University and attended general residency at the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt. She completed her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center. She completed a research fellowship at the National Institute of Mental Health where her research focused on the neurobiological underpinnings of callous and unemotional traits in adolescents. Following training, she established the Neuroimaging Research Center at Boys Town Research Hospital. She then went on to serve as the Child Fellowship Director and Program Director at Creighton University Medical Center prior to taking the Position at WMHI. Dr Pope’s research and academic interests continue to be the effects of trauma on childhood outcomes with a focus on youth in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems.
